Privacy Statement Newssieve.com

Last updated: June 2026

Welcome to Newssieve.com. To us, privacy is not an afterthought or a compliance exercise; it is the very foundation on which our platform is built. In this privacy statement, we clearly explain how we handle your data and how we ensure that you retain full control over your news overview.

1. Our vision on privacy (Privacy by Design)

Newssieve.com is an independent digital news filter that removes the noise. Because we believe in maximum freedom of choice without interference from opaque computer algorithms, our platform is built with Privacy by Design as our guiding principle. We do not build profiles on you. For us, it is purely about passing on information.

2. What data do we process?

In short: virtually none. When you use Newssieve.com, you do not need to create an account, leave an email address, or fill in any personal details.

3. Local storage of your preferences (LocalStorage)

The power of Newssieve.com lies in your freedom of choice. In the sidebar, you decide which sources and topics you enable or disable. To ensure that your personal filter is instantly ready for your next visit, these preferences need to be stored somewhere.

Important: Your selected sources, topics, and filters are stored entirely locally within your own browser via LocalStorage. These preferences are not shared with us or with third parties. The data remains on your own device.

4. Progressive Web App (PWA) Technology

You can install Newssieve as an app on your home screen using modern PWA technology. This gives you the convenience of an app without needing an account with the App Store or Google Play Store. Within this app environment, the exact same privacy rules apply: all settings, saved filters, and cached files remain strictly on your own device.

5. No algorithms and no ad tracking

Unlike traditional social media and commercial platforms, Newssieve.com does not use algorithms to determine what you see. All articles appear in a fair, chronological order.

6. Links to external news sites (sources)

Newssieve collects headlines from reputable Dutch news sites, national newspapers, and independent broadcasters. When you click on a headline, you leave Newssieve.com and are redirected to the website of the respective source. From that moment on, the privacy and cookie policy of that specific website applies. We have no influence over the privacy policies of these external parties.

7. Managing your rights and data

Since we do not centrally store personal data, accounts, or profiles, there is nothing to access, modify, or erase on our servers. If you wish to clear your saved filters and preferences, you can do so at any time by simply clearing the site data or browser history in your own browser settings.
